Leadership Positions

Preschool Director - 10 month position

Our Preschool Program has an opening for a Preschool Director for a 10-month position. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Preschool Director develops, organizes, and implements high quality YMCA child care program(s). This position also develops and manages the overall strategy for delivering programs and services related to full day preschool while ensuring staff excellence in the delivery of all programs in a safe manner with high quality.

This position also manages all aspects of the Preschool program and ensures that the programs meet the Department of Licensing, Department of Education, NAEYC, and Grow NJ Kids standards. The candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, 5 years of experience as a Children’s Director and/or 5 years of experience in working with children and adults in a supervisory role, and at least 3 years of experience in staff supervision, committees, and in providing leadership to groups preferred. Bi-lingual is preferred but not required. The minimum age requirement for this position is 21.

Aquatic Positions

We are currently looking for happy, motivated, and responsible applicants to fill a various positions in our Aquatics Department. Applicants must hold a current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification, along with any other required trainings. Join a fun team of staff and help promote safety around water!

Swim Instructor:

Our Y is currently looking for part-time swim instructors. Duties/responsibilities include: instructs swimming lessons for ages 6 months through adult as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Experience: applicant must have recent experience teaching swim lessons; demonstrate the ability to assist children and others in the development of swimming skills. Ability to life equipment, and to lift an average sized child. Must hold a current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification. ARC Water Safety or YMCA Swim Instructor certification strongly preferred. Must be team oriented, very reliable, great with kids and responsible.

Lifeguards:

The Y is currently looking for certified Lifeguards; part-time position for daytime and weekend hours. 18 years or older preferred (must be at least 16 years old to apply). Must have current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications.

Child Care Positions

We are currently looking for happy, motivated and FUN team members to be a part of our Preschool and Wrap Care program. We are currently hiring part time Y Team Members for substitute teacher and assistant positions, as well as, teacher assistants for our wrap care program.

Preschool Program - Substitute Teacher

Our Preschool program has immediate openings for a substitute teachers. The candidate should have a minimum of a Teacher Substitute Certificate, but preferably hold a Preschool Certification.

Preschool Teacher Assistant - 10 month, full-time position

Our Preschool Program has an opening for a Preschool Teacher Assistant, for a 10 month, full-time position. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Preschool Teacher Assistant works in implementing the curriculum withhin the established guidelines, assists with supervising the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA, IEP, PIRT, OT, or PT when appropriate, nutures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and families, and works in cooperation with other staff members to assure the best possible environment for the students. This position also actively participates with the children in all activities throughout the day including, but not limited to, swim lessons, gym class, and outside play. The candidate should be able to maintain sensitivity, patience, and be able to meet the individual child's basic needs. Requirements for the position are to meet educational and experience qualifications as established by State law and the NJ licensing requirement of a high school diploma, be at least 18 years of age, and the ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Previous experience in working with children in a developmental setting is preferred. Bi-lingual is perferred but not required. 

Before and After School - Site Coordinators

Join our team and make a difference! Our School Age Child Care (Before & After Care) program is looking for Site Coordinators for the 2018-2019 school year in Cumberland, Atlantic, and Salem counties. The School Aged Child Care Site Coordinator must be at least 21 years of age, have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree and at least two year’s experience working with children. CPR, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid certification are required within the first 90 days of employment. Effective professional communication skills, both verbal and written are required.

Before and After School - Site Assistants
