The new year will begin strongly at the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA. Programs will include group exercise classes, water exercise classes, swimming lessons, and youth sports. Winter group exercise classes run from the week of January 2 through February 24. The schedule includes Spinning, strength, DrumFIT, Zumba, various yoga offerings, and more. New this session are Pilates Fusion, Chair Stretch and Tone, and Tabata Resistance Training. Most classes meet one or two times per week. They start as early as 5:45 a.m. and end as late as 8:30 p.m.
There are four water exercise classes set for the winter. These are: Deep Water Exercise, Shallow Water Exercise, Aqua Zumba Exercise, and Pool Volleyball. Classes meet during daytime hours with the exception of Aqua Zumba, which is on Tuesdays beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Swim lessons will also begin in January. These are scheduled throughout the week and range from beginner skills to specific strokes. The youngest age is six months, but the instructions are available to all ages, including adults.
“Dribble, shoot, and score” is the theme of the youth indoor co-ed basketball league. This program focuses on developing skills and is beginner-friendly. Age groups are three to four, five to eight, and nine to twelve years old. Practices will be held prior to the first games, which are set for January 20.
The next roster of fitness programs will begin in late February.
