For the first time in twenty-seven years, the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA has a new CEO. John Antonelli, most recently of Florida, has filled the position formerly held by George Steinbronn, Jr. Antonelli was raised in Havertown, Pennsylvania and attended Temple University before beginning his career in the health and wellness industry. He is respected as a dedicated community leader with a passion for fostering growth and well-being.

In introducing Antonelli to the YMCA Board and staff, Board president Luigi Tramontana, Junior said, “In John, our YMCA has found a proven leader, a community advocate, and caring individual. He is known for tireless dedication to creating positive impacts, both with the Y and with the broader community.”

Antonelli has over twenty-five years in health-related fields. He started his career in Philadelphia working in the Frankford Hospital system and later spent nine years at Peninsula United Methodist Homes. While there, he oversaw multiple fitness and wellness programs throughout Delaware and Maryland. He has dedicated the last decade of his career to the Y, first as a Senior Program Director at the Central Florida YMCA, then as an Executive Director for the Weston YMCA Family Center. Throughout his career, Antonelli’s consistent and ultimate goal is serving the community.

The new CEO said, “I look forward to building on the amazing work and legacy that have been accomplished over 97 years at the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA.”

He added, “I am excited to have the opportunity to join a community and Y that share the same values as my family. Witnessing the staff and board commitment to their community and belief in the Y mission made the decision easy for my family and me.”

Antonelli has spent the last 8 years in Weston, Florida, with his wife, XXX, and three children – Johnny, Angelina, and Christopher. Both John and his wife, are active local volunteers as well as active participants in their children’s lives.

Tramontana, Junior added, “We all enthusiastically welcome John and look forward to working with him.”
